This famous painting by Norman Rockwell depicts real-life Massachusetts State Trooper Dick Clemens with a young boy, sitting together at a lunch counter. Edward Locke is the young boy who Rockwell pained as the titular "runaway."
The painting was first published as the cover of the 20 September 1958 edition of the Saturday Evening Post.
