X-Men: Legacy #208 marks the first issue that this series changed its title from simply X-Men to X-Men: Legacy. Previously, the series was know as X-Men volume 2.
The title change from X-Men to X-Men: Legacy came after the conclusion of the massive "Messiah Complex" crossover event, which was published in all of the main X-Men monthly titles. After Messiah Complex concluded, there was a shake-up in the X-titles. One change was the change in both title and focus of X-Men volume 2.
The X-Men series previously had a focus that was indistinguishable from its companion series, Uncanny X-Men, in that both series focused on the core body of X-Men, or one of two main squads of X-Men. When the series switched over to being X-Men: Legacy, the series began focusing squarely on X-Men founder Charles Xavier as the central character. The series followed his quest to rebuild his memories (shattered during the dramatic conclusion to the Messiah Complex storyline) and revisit key events in X-Men history.
The focus of X-Men: Legacy stayed with Charles Xavier for about a year and a half, until it transitioned to a focus on Rogue as the main character. Many issues featured both Charles Xavier and Rogue prominently, but Xavier was phased out and Rogue locked in as the central character in X-Men: Legacy #226.
