This publication is also known as: Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #40 or Aquaman (vol. 6) #40.

We do not favor the identification Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis (vol. 6) #40 because that is confusing. Although this IS the 40th issue in the 6th volume of Aquaman comics, there are not five previous series which had the title "Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis." The title "Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis" is distinctive and thus far not repeated, so we find it sufficient to identify the thus-titled issues without reference to a volume number.

Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #40 is a direct continuation from the previous month's issue of the Aquaman series: Aquaman (vol. 6) #39. The title change (from Aquaman to Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis) marks the change from the series starring the original Aquaman to now starring his son and successor, "Aquaman II" (Arthur Joseph Curry).
