Summary
The New Mutants (Cannonball, Karma, Wolfsbane and Sunspot) are arrested by Federal agents from the illegal government organization Project Widewake while visiting Salem Center Mall. When their teacher Stevie Hunter and Air Force intelligence officer Col. Michael Rossi intervene, the Project Widewake agents call in Sentinels (giant mutant-hunting robots). The New Mutants defeat the Sentinels and call in police to arrest the Federal agents from the rogue agency. Meanwhile, Danielle Moonstar is attacked by a Danger Room sequence initiated by Professor Xavier, who is coming under the control of a malevolent alien known as a Brood queen.
