Tales to Astonish #101 is the last issue of this series, at least under the title "Tales to Astonish." Beginning with issue #60, this series switched to a "split format" in which each issue featured two separate stories, one starring the Incredible Hulk and the other starring another hero (originally Hank Pym, a.k.a. "Giant-Man", and then Sub-Mariner).

Tales to Astonish #101 marked the end of this format. The Sub-Mariner co-feature was dropped and the series switched to a focus on the Incredible Hulk. The issue numbering was continued with The Incredible Hulk #102.
