At the beginning of this issue, Yelena Belova (the second Black Widow) attacks the New Avengers, but she is badly burned by Sauron. She runs off into the jungles of the Savage Land. On the last page of this issue, Belova is shown - still alive, but seriously injured from the burns. An unseen figure (not shown on-panel) offers Belova the opportunity to strike back at the New Avengers for what "they" did to her. Belova accepts the offer. The identity of the unseen figure is not revealed until Belova's next appearance, in New Avengers Annual #1.
