Summary
Steve Hunter, the dance and physical education teacher for the New Mutants, has been receiving anonymous threatening phone calls. She tells Xi'an (Karma) about it, who in turn tells her teammates. With Professor Xavier's permission and instructions to use this as a sort of field exercise, the New Mutants devise a plan to discover the identity of the mysterious caller. Using a phone trace, they track the next call to a phone booth, from where Wolfsbane, using the heightened senses of her lupine form, tracks the caller to a dance at the local high school. It is there that Stevie and the New Mutants find out that the caller is none other than Peter Bristow, a student in the dance class Stevie teaches in Salen Center. Peter flees, accidentally setting a fire in an abandoned factory. The New Mutants catch him and save him from the fire. Back at Steve's apartment, Danielle Moonstar uses her power to find out that Peter has suffered years of physical abuse at the hands of his parents. They turn Peter over to the police and call child welfare.
