According to some accounts, Krakoa is an actual mutant human disguised as an island. Other accounts hold that Krakoa is an island made alive by radiation.

Regardless of Krakoa's actual origin, it is clear that this dangerous living island tried to capture the original X-Men when they landed on it. New X-Men came to rescue the originals.
