It is not entirely clear if Dan Jones was simply an elevator operator who conspired with his friends (including Rackets Williams) to trick Lois Lane and steal from the Daily Planet, or if he was originally a con man who intentionally obtained a job as an elevator operator as part of this scheme.

He may have been a full-time con man who temporarily became an elevator operator, or he may have been a full-time elevator operator who tried to work a scheme as a con man.

Either way, he was the main villain in this story.
