Kemo was an 18th sailor who lived in a traditional pre-industrial Polynesian island society. He was captured and enslaved by the villainous Ennis Tremellyn. Kemo was kept alive (even until modern times) by the Eye of Ahriman (a powerful mystic object).
Ennis Tremellyn, the 17th Century necromancer who captured and enslaved Kemo, was a high priest of Ahriman. Tremellyn the Eye of Ahriman to bind many individuals and control their souls.
In contemporary times, Kemo battled the heroes Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Doctor Strange. Kemo may have been cast in the role of a villain in this story, but he probably wasn't really evil, at least originally. He was forced to be the lackey for the evil Tremellyn.
Kemo was featured prominently on the cover of Marvel Two-In-One #49. He is shown battling the Thing.
