Last issue of the second New Avengers series.
Mike Deodato was the principle artist. He illustrated nearly all of this 30-page issue. Additionally, "jam artists" provided one page each, depicting a battle between Doctor Strange and various Avengers mind-controlled by Daniel Drumm.
This issue features both of the two primary Avengers teams active at the time (the "Avengers" and the "New Avenger"), in their final appearance before being completely re-organized as part of the "Marvel: NOW!" shake-up. The two teams are featured with essentially equal prominence, with the exception of the fact that Doctor Strange (a member of the New Avengers) is the lead character.
The heroes featured as members of the Avengers team in this issue are: Doctor Strange, Luke Cage, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), Spider-Man, The Thing, Iron Fist, Wolverine (in flashback only), Mockingbird, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and the late Victoria Hand (killed a few issues previous, now seen as a memorial statue).
The heroes featured as current members of the main "Avengers" team in this issue are: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Red Hulk (Thunderbolt Ross), Vision, Hawkeye, Spider-Woman, and Black Widow.
It is worth noting that Wolverine and Spider-Man were both (until relatively recently) concurrent members of both the Avengers and the New Avengers teams.
Even Norman Osborn's "Dark Avengers" organized during the "Dark Reign" period of Marvel history) are seen in one flashback panel: Norman Osborn (as "Iron Patriot), Ares, Noh-Varr as "Captain Marvel", Karla Sofen (Moonstone) as "Ms. Marvel", Sentry, Ares, Daken as "Wolverine", Bullseye as "Hawkeye" and Mac Gargan (Scorpion/Venom) as "Spider-Man."
The one-page scenes illustrated by the "jam artists" are as follows:
- Doctor Strange versus Red Hulk, by Chuck BB.
- Doctor Strange versus Spider-Man, by Farel Dalrymple.
- Doctor Strange versus The Thing, by Ming Dyle.
- Doctor Strange versus Captain America, by Lucy Knisley.
- Doctor Strange versus Thor, by Becky Cloonan.
- Doctor Strange versus Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), by Yves Bigerel.
