Number of characters in this sub-list: 49 (out of a total of 36,945 in the database).

Animated inanimates are characters where were previously inanimate, non-sentient objects but which have become newly animated or "alive," typically through magical or "scientific" means. Examples include clearly comical characters such as the Eggs-Men (a team of animated breakfast foods that fought Howard the Duck) and more serious, deadly characters, such as the electricity being Zzzax. The "religion" of such characters must be regarded as "not applicable." As these beings are so newly alive, they have not had time to be raised in any particular religious tradition or explore religious topics on their own. These characters often appear to have independent human-like personalities. But are they truly sentient? Do they possess a soul? The answers to these questions are typically left for individual readers to ponder. Animated inanimates are listed separately from "sentient inanimates", which are objects (such as stars) that have possessed sentience for a long time (maybe millennia) and certainly have distinct beliefs and knowledge of a religious nature.
